These are the true phases of the epidemically prevalent Adrenal Stress:
Phase 1. - Adrenal Stress. High cortisol levels, this is present in nearly all people and children at birth! People typically feel 'good' as high levels of cortisol do feel good, though somewhat 'energized' or overly 'alert'. No cortisol is needed but regaining health and balance is preventative to progressing into phase 2.
Phase 2. - Adrenal Fatigue. Faltering cortisol levels, first in the am. This is when people start to have 'symptoms' or begin to feel ill / become diagnosed with ailments both physical and mental. These low cortisol levels lead to low energy (especially in the mornings), depression, inflammation, increased allergies / autoimmune issues, brain fog, reverse cortisol rythyms (adrenals 'catch up' an night and cause nighttime alertness and insomnia) etc. Bio-Identical Cortisol is needed here short term / as needed, AFTER foundational hormone deficiencies are restored (progesterone / testosterone / DHEA, etc).
Phase 3. - Adrenal Failure. Very low cortisol levels. People in phase 3 (half of the population and climbing) are typically very 'ill' and being treated with numerous medications. This level of failure is a huge part of illnesses, of all natures. Bio-Identical Cortisol is crucial in the abatement of symptoms, rest of the adrenal glands, and is often needed long term and can be miraculous as it's deficiency is a huge part of their worsening illnesses.
Misinformation continues to lead the public down the road of excessive diagnosis and medications, and that 'high cortisol' is the enemy and cause of our illnesses AND obesity. In fact the exact opposite is true!
NMF physicians and health counselors are experts in the truths of adrenal issues and recommend adrenal testing for all of our new patients (which is very easy).
